Buy Property in Turkey

Buying property in Turkey is a relatively straightforward process however, due to the military checks which are mandatory; it can take a little time.

Once you have decided on the property you would like to buy, your solicitor will then need to conduct a search at the registry office. This will confirm that the property belongs to the seller and he has the right to sell it.

They will also check that there are not outstanding debts relating to the property. Checks will also be made to confirm that the property is not in a military restricted zone.

Once these checks have been completed it will be necessary for you to make a deposit of between 10-15% to hold the property. It is important that payment of this deposit is recorded in the contract which is written in Turkish and translated into English and finally signed by both the seller and the buyer.

The price will also be included in the contract.

Under no circumstances should you part with any money, without having a legal contract in place.
